Silver Clay Jewelry Class · $75/session

In this class the metal clay we will be using is Precious Metal Clay or PMC.  PMC is made of tiny, micron sized particles of silver suspended in an organic binder to make modeling clay.  It can be molded, shaped, and cut just like any modeling clay. You can use rubber stamps or interesting textures to create patterns in the PMC.  It is then dried, and fired in a kiln or with a torch or even a gas stove.  When the clay is heated to the right temperature the organic binders burn up, the metal sinters together, the pieces shrink about 8 -10%, and you are left with 99.9% pure silver. (More pure than Sterling Silver.)

We will provide all the tools needed and the kiln firing.  You do not need to be particularly artistic to take and love this class.  Every student leaves with silver jewelry that they have created.  We will be making silver earrings in this class, but the student can modify this if they do not wear earrings.
